:: Joining USC

Requirements

Anyone over 21 years of age or who holds a Bachelors Degree is eligible to join the USC for a year of full-time volunteer service

Budget for a Volunteer:

A USC volunteer’s basic expenses cost $14,000 each year. This includes room and board (including the maintenance and repair of our two near-100 year old volunteer homes), health insurance and health costs, workers compensation insurance, $75/month personal stipend and $25/month in discretionary spending for cultural enrichment and fun, and administrative costs.

Placement agencies pay $825/month for a total of $9,900 per year for their full-time volunteer. This leaves $4,100 per volunteer, which the USC fundraises. We rely on the generous support of individual donations and church contributions to make up that difference. Please consider supporting USC as a part of your annual giving, or ask your church to write us into their budget.
