:: Contacting USCAbout our staffLaura Folkwein, M.Div, MSW, Executive Director: Laura started at the Urban Servant Corps as Program Director in Fall 2005 and took the helm as Executive Director in July 2007. She is also pursuing ordination to be a pastor in the United Church of Christ, and is available to visit churches as a guest preacher. When she's not hard at work at the USC Laura enjoys watching independent films (bring on the subtitles!), cooking, reading fiction, drinking coffee, getting fired up about politics, being outside cycling or hiking, sleeping in, practicing her Spanish, and hanging out with her family and pet bunnies. Linnea Anderson, Associate Director: With a name like Linnea, you're most likely Swedish and you're most likely Lutheran! Indeed, Linnea is both. She grew up outside of Chicago, pursued a degree in psychology and cognitive science at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, and headed west upon graduation in 2003. She landed in Denver knowing no one, but quickly became acquainted with her Urban Servant Corps community at the 5&9 House during the 2003-2004 year. During her volunteer year, Linnea was placed at Housing Justice! Following some additional time at HJ! and some gallivanting through South Africa and Japan, she took a job with the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless in Substance Treatment Services as the Administrative Assistant for the last two years. Now Linnea lives in Stapleton with her future hubby and their cat, Opus. In addition to her love of the brain and nonprofits, Linnea enjoys skiing, swimming, and traveling whenever the opportunity presents itself. She joined the USC staff at the beginning of April 2008. Sarah Hafner, Program Assistant and AmeriCorps guru: After graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2000, Sarah spent a year volunteering with the Urban Servant Corps (2000-01). Since then Sarah continues to live in an intentional community while attending nursing school. Sarah has worked for the USC since January 2003 and will be leaving this June to begin her career as a nurse. When Sarah finds time between working two jobs, being a full-time student and attending clinicals she enjoys spending a day on the slopes skiing, taking a weekend in the mountains to hike and camp, spending time practicing yoga and learning the Sutras, enjoying a big ball of yarn and a couple of knitting needles or crotchet hooks, and most importantly relaxing with the ones she loves.
